NPO Ned Holstein Shared Parenting Research Award

In 2017, in collaboration with the International Council on Shared Parenting, NPO Founding Chair Ned Holstein brought together leading researchers from around the world to address the issue of what custodial arrangements promote children’s best interest after divorce or separation. NPO has made video recordings of sessions of this important conference available free.

The NPO website prominently promotes some of the best research available to help answer questions about shared parenting. For example, “Is shared parenting appropriate when parents are in conflict with each other?” “Is it appropriate for infants and toddlers?” and so forth.

NPO has also conducted its own research: the 2019 NPO Shared Parenting Report Card, the NPO Ohio Parenting Time Report, and the forthcoming NPO Child Support and Shared Parenting Report Card. NPO has also commissioned independently conducted research in 19 states to gauge citizens’ attitudes about shared parenting and legislation to create a legal presumption in favor of shared parenting.

Now, in furthering its research-based approach to advocating for shared parenting, National Parents Organization is proud to announce the establishment of an annual NPO Ned Holstein Shared Parenting Research Award. This award will be presented to the author(s) of the best article/book published in the previous 12 months relating to the mission of National Parents Organization, as judged by NPO. Winning articles/books will be featured on NPO’s website and promoted in social media. The award carries a cash prize of $1,000.
